This is a last minute event. I didn’t want to plan this event early and be at the mercy of the weather. I won’t lie, it will be a bit cold…. but the sun will be shining! Might be your last chance to climb Donner Pass without all the approached covered in a ton of snow! For me, its my last climb of 2011 and I want it to be at my favorite spot! I’m camping tonight and climbing tomorrow. I plan to start climbing around 9am but it will be cold so I encourage others to wait until at least 11am before climbing. I will be near the Star wall or the Black wall. I get good cell coverage and think it best for everyone to call me at 530-933-89 two eight if you show up early. Otherwise, I will see you in the parking lot by school of rock (west of the bridge) at 11am.
We will be climbing 5.8 through 5.9 Trad to set up TR (Top Rope) and will hit routes for sport climbs 5.10 – 5.12a with some being a mix of trad and sport. We can setup TR for all routes if someone completes the lead. I don’t recommend this event for beginners but if you want to try, we will help!
Items to bring: cold weather clothing, harness, belay device, climbing shoes, and some warm boots or slippers to belay in. If you have a dynamic rope, bring that along with any cams, nuts, stoppers, etc.

Want to do some cold weather, break in the snow, craggin’ before Christmas? Yeah me too. Top Rope and Lead climbs are available. The road into the Spires requires some extra vehicle clearance, so some car pooling with well equipped vehicles is a must. Suggested meetup location: El Dorado Hills at 8:30am. Exit Latrobe Rd. “Park and Ride”, south of 50, east side of Latrobe Rd at Whiterock Rd.
You need a harness and shoes.
Anybody down for a Pipeworks meetup next week after work? I get back on the 13th, and will be around until the 18th.
I’m just getting into roped climbing and was looking to see if anyone is up for a day of beginners climbing and anchor setting.
CLIMB
28 miles East on 70 from the 149. Have climbed there only 26 times this year. Slightly obsessive spot! Hoping to meet the other North State Climbers! If no one shows, I’ll just solo again. Would like to hit up some climbs I have not yet touched! No approach, belay from your car! Bring Sport & Trad! Hope to see someone!!
OK boys and girls. I guess it’s up to me to post the details since this is my fault, AKA I jumped at you-all’s idea and “added” it to the calender.
I am bringing my daughter Zoe, she is 4yrs 5months. She has been out with me before but is unsure and fearful while on the rope if I’m not right next to her. She is looking forward to meeting some kids that like to climb.
We should be at the parking spot at about 10:00 on Fri. We plan on staying as late as 4:00. All of this is of course weather permiting.
If the weather is no good I am up for Pipeworks, this seems to be the favored bad weather spot anyways. Special Hours are 9:00 to 6:00. I live very close by too.
The weather looks good in the forecast. I’m sure we’ll have enough gear between the three of us. See you all soon.
